Dr. Paw Paw Multi-use Balm Product Review : Beauty Blogger Ashley Elizabeth

Dr. Paw Paw

For many, many moons I have been using Vaseline as my go to multi purpose balm. The majority of the time you could always find a jar of Vaseline floating around somewhere in my purse. That was until I recently discovered Dr. PAWPAW. Within two days, the original Dr. PAWPAW had replaced a beauty staple of mine that I had seriously been using since middle school. In addition the bright yellow tube is much more visually appealing, perfect 25mL size for travel and the tube has a secure, twist top so there’s not a chance there is going to be a gooey mess waiting at the bottom of my purse for me.

Before being introduced to Dr. PAWPAW, I had no clue what a paw paw was. The closest thing I knew was a Pap-Paw, which is what my southern grandfather wanted me to address him growing up instead of Granddad…still strange to me, but Mam-Maw and Pap-Paw it was and still is today! In all seriousness, paw paw is a fruit that is similar to a papaya but can vary depending on the species and where it is cultivated. Dr. PAWPAW uses the Carica papaya which is one of the twenty-two accepted species in the genus Carica of the plant family Caricaceae.

Dr. PAWPAW can be used in so many ways:
• For cracked/dry lips
• For cracked heels
• To smooth flyaway hair
• On elbows and dry patches of skin
• As a cuticle balm
• To soothe nappy rash
• To shape and tame unruly eyebrows
• On eyelashes and nails to condition
• As a highlighter for cheeks and brow bone
• To create the ‘wet-look’ for hair
• To condition ends of the hair
• As a hair rescue moisturizing mask
• To add gloss to eyelids
• On legs for a lasting shine

Dr. PAWPAW launched in November 2013 and quickly gained notoriety with celebrities, makeup artists, beauty influencers and everyone in between. Next they launched the first ever paw paw tinted lip balm in Peach Pink. By the color of the tube I thought it was going to be a very peachy shade, but on me it is a light pink shade. My friend that has more of an olive skin tone, the Peach Pink balm was more of a muted pink. The tints don’t override your natural lip color, instead they blend with your natural lip color to create a unique shade.

Since my lips are always dry, they sucked the balms up like a thirsty camel in the middle of a desert. Because of that, I did find that I needed to reapply the balm to my lips about every hour or two. Since the formula is thick, it is very easy to apply too much, so just remember a tiny bit goes a long way.

I am absolutely in love with the Peach Pink and it is the closest thing I’ve found to my almost long gone, “Pink Fish” lip balm from MAC. Even though the shades between the two are completely different, the formula and the application texture feels almost identical and best of all, Dr. PAWPAW is made from all natural ingredients, with antibacterial and antimicrobial properties.

Following the successful launch of the Peach Pink Tinted Balm, Dr. PAWPAW released the Ultimate Red Tinted Balm. I rarely wear red on my lips, so naturally I gravitated towards using this tint color on my cheeks. It gives skin a flushed sheen glow. Overall, I am more than impressed with the Dr. PAWPAW line and can’t wait for it to officially make it’s way here to the United States, as it is currently only available for purchase in select areas and on the Dr. PAWPAW website.
